It concerns me that this is something that can happen to anyone and was wondering what can someone do to avoid such things in future :-1.
Ask someone for their full legal name even before meeting them ?
Call his former employer and asked if he worked there, etc.
I'm sure he will hit her up with the send money home deal or something.
He even dropped names of the some good/big corporations he had worked with in the past.
My friend's head was in a tizzy and she called me as soon as she got home.
I don't see that there IS a way to prevent one self from being snowed by someone who is out to build a lie like that. You could ask for supporting documents from everyone, but that would really put a crimp in a budding relationship.
(But would goog'ling help finding out someone's legal status)2.
Is it okay to ask for someone to show their Driver's Licence.3. What could someone do to prevent finding out such details much later..after having invested so much time and emotions ? If your friend is only going by his words and not seeing actual documents, etc then I would gather this is an entire is likely trying to get her to part with some money for his services.i've dated several girls in the past that are immigrants.
some issue licenses that identify the holders as noncitizens, but not all do.
so asking for a drivers license wouldn't necessarily tell you i could offer a bit more specific info to your state, but hell, i can't even dig it out of the dmv site for MY state.
